Harbin is favoured with beautiful natural scenery. Based on meandering Songhua River and subject to severe low temperatures in winter, Harbin boasts a unique ice and snow culture. So, Harbin is also called the 'Ice City'. Each winter fantastic sculptures created from snow and ice, ice lanterns and exciting sporting events attract thousands of visitors from home and abroad. The cool summers make Harbin highly popular as a natural summer resort.

Sun Island:
Sun Island is at the northern bank of the Songhua River and covers an area of 38 Square kilometers. The Sun Island is considered to be Harbin's best natural summer venue. Alongside the Songhua River and influenced by the monsoon climate, there is a clear distinction between the sceneries of the four seasons on the islands. However, it is in winter, when the whole island is covered with snow, that it is the time to attend the famous Snow Carving Festival here.
Tiger Zoo:
This is the only one Zoo in China that provides tigers with natural environment and trains them for their natural habitat which is adjacent to the Sun Island. The park rears more than five hundred beautiful but endangered purebred Siberian tigers. Vivacious little tigers and fierce fully grown tigers will introduce you to their fascinating world.
Provincial Museum:
It is located at the center of Harbin in Nangang District. It was built in 1906. Its architecture belongs to a Baroque style. |
