Sanya is an important political, economic, cultural and foreign trade port in the southern part of Hainan, China, and also a famous coastal tourist city filled with tropical landscapes and local customs. Since Sanya is situated in the southernmost part of China, she has been called "theremotest cape of the earth" since ancient time.
Butterfly Valley:
Located near Longtan Lakes near stunning Yalong Bay, Butterfly Valley is a 1.5-ha garden of vibrant colors and feathery winged delights. On display are some of China's most rare and precious butterflies, including Peking Papilio, among many others.
Dadonghai Beach:
Conveniently located 3 km southeast of Sanya, the crescent shaped Dadonghai beach is a good place for swimming and other water sports. In 1991, Dadong Sea was developed into a multi-functional tourist place with good facilities for sightseeing, vacations, and leisure tours.
Luhuitou (Turn Round Deer) Park:
It was built in 1984 and is located in the Luhuitou Peninsula at the southern tip of Sanya. It has an area of 110,000 square meters and is composed of five hills, while its south, east, and west sides are surrounded by the sea. The name of the park "Luhuitou" comes from an ancient fairy story of the Li nationality.
the Li Minority Village:
Lying at the foot of the Wuzhi Mountains, the Li Minority Village area is a tropical paradise with fertile land and abundant rainfall. Coconut palms and rubber trees line the beaches and people in some places reap three crops of rice a year and grow maize and sweet potatoes all the year round. The area is the country's major producer of tropical crops such as coconut, a rica, sisal hemp, lemon grass, cocoa, coffee, rubber, oil palm, cashew, pineapple, casava, mango and banana.
The Lis had no written script. Their spoken language belongs to the Chinese-Tibetan language family. But many of them now speak the Chinese language. A new romanized script was created for the Li ethnic group in 1957 with government help.
