Xi'an has a long history. Since the earliest societies, humanity lived and multiplied here. It served as a capital for twelve dynasties, including the Western Zhou, Qin, Western Han, Sui and Tang dynasties, spanning over 1120 years. It became the oriental cultural centre of the Silk Road. Many dynasties kept the city beautiful and magnificent.

Qianling Tomb:

Located 85 kilometers northwest of Xi'an, was the tomb of Li Zhi (628-683) Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty, and his empress, who became the only woman emperor Wu Zetian (624-705) in Chinese history after the death of her husband. It was built in 684 A.D., and took 23 years. There were a lot of architecture on the grounds of the tomb which was a grand necropolis. The huge stone statues arrayed in front of the tomb are well preserved up to now.

Maoling:

The mausoleum was in Maoxiang Town in Huaili County, during the Western Han Dynasty; hence the name Maoling (the mausoleum at Maoxiang). Emperor Wudi (140-87 B.C.), was the fifth emperor of the Western Han Dynasty. At the age of 7, he was made the crown prince. He came to the throne at 16 and was in power for 54 years. He was the emperor for the longest period in the history of China. Emperor Qin Shihuang and Emperor Han Wudi are usually mentioned together at the same time. This is because, the autocratic state of centralized power, during the feudal time was established by Emperor Qin Shihuang, but it was thoroughly consolidated by Emperor Han Wudi.

Xian'yang Museum:

It was enlarged on the basis of the Kong Temple of the Ming Dynasty, and didn't open to public until 1962. Xian'yang Museum mainly exhibits the cultural relics of the Qin and Han Dynasties.
