Explore the mixture of east and west in Central District on Hong Kong Island by walking through the most interesting parts - the mixture of old colonial buildings and high-tech towers, hawker stalls and French restaurants, typical Chinese homes and the housing of the foreigners - fascinating!
We meet at the Star Ferry Pier on Kowloon side or at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel on Hong Kong Island side (please check the time/place with your guide in Hong Kong).
The first visit is the 43rd floor of
Bank of China or the 55th floor the Two
IFC (subject to availability) - from here you have a breathtaking view on the skyscrapers around you and the harbour. Then walk on to Johnston Road and take the
tramway to the Central Market where you can see typical Chinese food - fish, meat, fruit and vegetables.
Afterwards take the
Hillside Escalator Link which is an 800m moving walkway linking Central and the Mid-levels. Walk along the
Caine Road where a lot of upper-class houses and schools are located. Down steeply on
Ladder Street we come to the
Man Mo Temple - the oldest temples in Hong Kong. In
Hollywood Road you can see a lot of Chinese antique shops. Afterwards proceed to Lan Kwai Fong - an area of trendy restaurants and nightspots. The tour ends at the MTR station in Central or, if you wish to take a drink in Lan Kwai Fong it ends there.
