The Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery:
Up in the New Territories, and well removed from the city on a hillside above Sha Tin, the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery stands at the top of a steep flight of steps enjoying panoramic views over the town and up to the surrounding mountains. There are actually around 13,000 small black or gold Buddha images, each about a foot high and each adopting a different posture, stacked in rows from floor to ceiling. There are also some larger Buddhas, as well as statues of a gigantic and somewhat malevolent-looking elephant and a fearsome creature, which is a cross between a griffin and a dragon.

Roasted Pigeon lunch at Lung Wah Hotel
:
Lung Wah Hotel was found in 1951. It was the first hotel opened in Sha Tin during the postwar period. Initially it was a 2 storey high building where the first floor was the dining area and reception, second floor was the hotel rooms. Hotel is no longer existed, but the restaurant part is kept and becomes a very famous restaurant for its pigeon dishes and the traditional style.

Long ago in Tang Dynasty, there was this dietetic handbook, which brings up the idea of using pigeon meat as one of the dietetic treatments. Based on the ancient Chinese medical theory, pigeon meat is mild in nature and no poison, which helps provide certain essences to both men and women. Other than that, pigeon meat is also good for irrigating the internal faculty of our bodies. It also helps people with liver illness or women with periodic weakness.

Sha Tin Racecourse:

Nothing sets Hong Kong abuzz with excitement quite like the thrill of horseracing. The atmosphere is exhilarating, betting is feverish and there are potentially huge rewards. With a minimum bet of HK$10, jackpots of millions or even billions could be hit.

There are no less than 40,000 participants attending the race, you can surely hear and feel the excitement once the horses are running down the home straight in full speed.

Giant video screens (the Sha Tin screen is the biggest in the world) face the stands, so you never lose track of the horses.
